Apple Car... the Future of Automobiles!

As Apple's September event is rapidly approaching, technology enthusiasts and Apple fans are anxious to see the new products, particularly the new iPhones, a redesigned iPad Pro, and the Apple Watch Series 4. Leaks have suggested what each new product will look like. There will apparently be three new iPhones, one being the upgraded version of the iPhone X, one being its larger model (or Plus model), and one being the budget-end iPhone X model that will house an LCD display, rather than an OLED display to potentially bring the price down to around $700. Additionally, the iPad Pro will feature a design change with thinner bezels, no home button, rounded corners, and potentially Face ID. Lastly, the Apple Watch Series 4 will also include a redesign as the bezels will similarly reduce to appropriately fit in the modern world of less bezel and more display.

So it appears that Apple is going to have some exciting products this year. And then soon enough, consumers will be anxious to know the 2019 iPhone lineup and if any changes will be included in that year to the coming 2018 models. And it seems that Apple will continue the yearly releases of next-generation products, particularly the iPhone, as it is Apple's primary drive for revenue. But what will Apple's next new product series or innovation will be? It turns out that Ming-Chi Kuo, a reputable Apple analyst who predicted the company's 2018 iPhone lineup, knows the answer. He believes that Apple, within a few years, will launch an AR headset and the long-rumored Apple Car, both of which will assist the company to attain a $2 trillion valuation after recently becoming the first company to hit $1 trillion.

It may sound too good to be true, but these projects are justifiable and believable based by Apple's latest technology plays. In fact, Apple has consistently been working to improve on Augmented Reality capabilities through its ARKit that developers can you to make apps. First revealed in iOS 11 on June 2017, ARKit idolizes Apple's ambitions for augmented reality and advanced software, and developers currently have access to the next-generation ARKit 2, previewed in June 2018. Kuo commented that Apple could release its AR glasses in 2020, which could be programmed through a new "rOS" or reality operating system. There is also speculation that Apple will soon enter the video game industry full force through its potential release of a virtual reality system.

Nothing has probably been more hyped than the Apple Car. Referred as "Project Titan," Apple's aspirations for the manufacturing of an automobile has never been confirmed by the company, but reports and internals suggest that Apple could seek to make an electric car that competes with Tesla. It has already admitted that they are researching and gathering data to develop a successful self-driving system, a technology similarly envisioned by Google's Waymo and Tesla. But Kuo predicts that Apple will build the actual hardware and will release it to the public between 2023 and 2025. Based by recent hirings of automobile engineers including Doug Fields, Tesla's former lead engineer for 5 years, there is reason to believe that Apple will incorporate its self-driving technology in its grander plan of an Apple-branded car. Just as how Apple reinvented the phone, it might plan to reinvent the automobile. Maybe in 10 years, Google will launch their own car using Waymo's technologies.
